To Whom It May Concern:

Under contract to Apple, Rick Gansler worked at my direction for the period April 1995 through March 1996. During this time, Rick was directly responsible for developing the Notes C API for the Macintosh 68k and PPC platforms and assisted in the Macintosh development of five other Notes Programmability products. He prepared and presented three significant talks on developing Notes applications on the Macintosh platforms including a paper which will be published in MacTech. Rick single-handedly connected the Macintosh development efforts within Lotus, and established an Apple server center to support corporate Macintosh and Newton development.

As a contractor to Apple, Rick frequently supported Lotus and Apple customers through hardware and software difficulties. He did this willingly, and also sought to turn the experience into learning, as well as a teaching, experience. His return would often be announced by a flurry of email, detailing how Apple, Lotus, and their joint customers can improve end-user applications. His analyses were invariably correct.

In working with him, I found Rick to be an insightful and energetic developer. He understands the rapidly changing technology around him, and always seeks to improve both himself and his customers. He goes out of his way to help people, and with a strong dedication to resolve build and product problems. He is singularly committed to excellence in everything he does, and I sincerely look forward to working with him again in the future.
